Hearty Slow Cooker Turkey Chili Recipe

Slow Cooker Turkey Chili served in a bowl ready to eat

Ground turkey keeps this slow cooker turkey chili lighter than the beef version, but you would not know it from the way the kidney beans and crushed tomatoes thicken up over the hours. A little extra cumin and chili powder keeps every spoonful warm and full of flavor.

Perfect for busy days, this recipe is easy to prepare and can be customized with your favorite toppings. It’s an excellent choice for family dinners or gatherings.

Simple and Flavorful Turkey Chili

This turkey chili combines lean ground turkey with kidney beans, tomatoes, and a blend of spices, simmered to perfection in a slow cooker. The recipe takes about 8 hours on low or 4 hours on high and serves 6 people.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup corn (frozen or canned)
  • Optional toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped green onions, cilantro

  1. Brown the Turkey: In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground turkey until fully cooked. Drain excess fat and transfer to the slow cooker.
  2. Add Ingredients: Add chopped onion, minced garlic, kidney beans, black beans, crushed tomatoes, chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper to the slow cooker. Stir to combine.
  3. Cook: Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours. During the last hour, add corn and stir.

This is my go-to when I want something filling without a lot of fuss on a weeknight. Leftovers freeze well, so I portion them out for lunches and top each bowl with a spoon of sour cream and some green onion.
