Refreshing Grapefruit Beet Detox Smoothie

A colorful grapefruit beet detox smoothie garnished with a grapefruit slice and mint; vibrant pink in color.

This detox smoothie is a blend of fresh grapefruit, cooked beets, and additional fruits, providing a tangy yet sweet flavor profile. Ideal for a nutritious breakfast or a revitalizing snack, it takes only about 10 minutes to prepare and serves 2 people.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium cooked beet, peeled and diced
  • 1 large grapefruit, peeled and segmented
  • 1 banana, sliced
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt or a dairy-free alternative
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • 1 cup spinach or kale (optional)
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 1 cup water or coconut water

Instructions

  1. Prep the Ingredients: Peel and chop the beet, prepare the grapefruit segments, and slice the banana.
  2. Blend the Smoothie: In a blender, combine the cooked beet, grapefruit, banana, yogurt, honey (if using), greens (if using), ice cubes, and water.
  3. Blend Until Smooth: Blend everything on high until you achieve a creamy texture. You can add more water if it’s too thick.
  4. Serve: Pour the smoothie into glasses and enjoy immediately for the best flavor and freshness.

Roast or steam the beet first for a softer taste. A squeeze of the grapefruit keeps the red from going muddy.
