Strawberries are the easiest way to make grapefruit behave. This grapefruit strawberry detox smoothie turns a sour fruit into something my kids will actually drink.

Ingredients

  • 1 large grapefruit, peeled and segmented
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled
  • 1 banana, peeled
  • 1/2 cup coconut water or water
  • 1 tablespoon honey or agave syrup (optional)
  • Ice cubes (optional, for a chilled smoothie)
  • Mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep the Ingredients: Peel and segment the grapefruit, hull the strawberries, and peel the banana.
  2. Blend the Smoothie: In a blender, combine the grapefruit segments, strawberries, banana, and coconut water. If desired, add honey for extra sweetness.
  3. Add Ice: For a chilled smoothie, add a handful of ice cubes to the blender.
  4. Blend Until Smooth: Blend on high until all ingredients are well combined and the mixture is smooth.
  5. Serve: Pour the smoothie into glasses and garnish with mint leaves, if desired. Enjoy immediately.

Sweeten to taste with a little honey, since grapefruits vary. Blend on high so the seeds don’t survive.
