Ingredients

  • 1 large head of cabbage
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for sautéing

Instructions

  1. Prepare Cabbage: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Carefully remove cabbage leaves and blanch them in boiling water for about 2-3 minutes until softened. Remove and set aside to cool.
  2. Make Filling: In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic, sauté until softened. In a bowl, combine ground beef, cooked rice, sautéed onion and garlic, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  3. Stuff Cabbage: Place a generous spoonful of the beef mixture in the center of each cabbage leaf. Fold the sides over and roll them up tightly to seal.
  4. Arrange Rolls: In a baking dish, spread a layer of tomato sauce on the bottom. Place the cabbage rolls seam-side down in the dish. Top with the remaining tomato sauce and diced tomatoes.
  5. Bake: Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 45-60 minutes, or until the meat is cooked through.
  6. Serve: Let the rolls cool slightly before serving. Enjoy hot as a comforting meal.
